My Story
Some people might say that I live seek out moments of simultaneous discomfort and exuberance that come from stretching personal boundaries and expanding into who I am. They're right! Here is a short list of those moments: studying in the French Riviera my junior year in college; hiking the Grand Canyon -rim to rim- over three days; taking an opportunity for an international assignment in Paris; and more recently working as an solopreneur.
I moved to Paris in 1998 and for eight years I made an international career my life - managing international assignment programs for global companies, leading multinational service teams, conducting meetings in fluent French, living in Paris and then London, traveling around Europe, and earning a very comfortable salary. On the outside, dream life. Not so much from the inside.
My days were filled but I wasn’t feeling fulfilled.
With the help of a Life Coach, I realized where I was not honoring my values. In addition to developing a life outside of work, I also re-evaluated the place work had in my life. Funny how getting a life got me a promotion! What happened as I improved the relationship with myself is that I expanded my awareness. Rather than looking at my career as something to do, I began to see it as an expression of myself. My colleagues responded well to my new leadership style and my superiors rewarded my performance. And still I sensed that I was not living to my potential and wanted a change.
A move back to the United States in 2006 coincided with my leaving corporate management. I chose to take my next "foreign" assignment venturing into self employment and started on a path to becoming a masterful coach.
Now, I help leaders stop their chase for external recognition and start being the truth of who they are so they can attract the success and fulfillment they desire.
I know from experience the happier I am the more my life reflects what matters most to me. The energetic shifts we make on the inside reflect on the outside. This is why I say, "Smile out to the world and the world smiles back!"
My credentials include MBA from Thunderbird: School of Global Management and Bachelor of Arts Degree from Randolph-Macon College, as well as Certified Professional Coach, Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner, Pilates Instructor, and NLP Practitioner.
On a personal note, I am about as apple pie as they come and attribute my greatest leaps in personal growth to my cross cultural experiences, having studied or worked in France, Germany, Switzerland, England, and now back in the United States where I currently balance my work with my most fulfilling role as Aunt Denise.
My favorite personal transformation tools are the Energy Leadership Index Assessment, MBT physiological footware and the emWave PSR from HeartMath.
It was in my discovery of ballroom dancing that I learned leaders need also be good followers. Life is your dance partner, take the lead!
